Brazilian corvette Angostura launched at Slikkerveer according to the Dutch newspaper Het Vrije volk dated 3 February 1955

An item reported that yesterday afternoon at the Gusto shipyard at Slikkerveer the spouse of the Brazilian envoy Mrs. Nise Wellisch the corvette Angostura (1) launched in the presence of the Brazilian ambassador dr. Th. Graca Aranha and several other Brazilian authorities. This corvette was the last of the ten built in the Netherlands for the Brazilian navy under supervision of the Ned. Scheepsbouw Export centrale.

1. Of the Angostura-class of ten corvettes consisting of the Bahiana, Caboclo, Forte de Coimbra, Mearim, Iguatemy, Purus, Imperial Marinheiro, Solimoes, Ypiranga and the Angostura. With a displacement of 911 (standard) tons and as dimensions 184 x 30,5 x 11 2/3 feet. Her two Sulzer diesel engines supplied 2.160 bhp allowing a speed of 16 knots. With a oil fuel bunker capacity of 135 tons. The armament consisted of 1-4” gun and 4-4cm anti aircraft guns.
