Spanish torpedo boat Orion visited the Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper De Tijd dated 18 February 1887

An item reported the arrival at IJmuiden on 16 February of the Spanish torpedo boat Orion coming from Bremerhaven.(1)

1. A 1st class torpedo boat which was built in 1885 at the German Germaniawerft with a displacement of 88 tons and as dimensions 38,00 x 4,78 x 2,04 (maximum) metres or 124’8”x 15’7” x 6’7”. The 3-cylinder vertical compound reciprocating engine supplied 1.000 ihp allowing a speed of 21 knots. Her armament consisted of two torpedo tubes and two machineguns.
