Brazilian corvette launched at Martenshoek according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwsblad van het Noorden dated 14 January 1954

An item reported that at the shipyard Bodewes Scheepswerven N.V. at Martenshoek the keel was laid down of a Brazilian coast guard vessel with 2x1.000 hp engines.(1) The vrije volk dated 22 April 1955 reported the departure of the steel-built Brazilian coast guard vessel fitted out with 2x1.100 hp Sulzer engines.

1. Of the Angostura-class of ten corvettes consisting of the Bahiana, Caboclo, Forte de Coimbra, Mearim, Iguatemy, Purus, Imperial Marinheiro, Solimoes, Ypiranga and the Angostura. With a displacement of 911 (standard) tons and as dimensions 184 x 30,5 x 11 2/3 feet. Her two Sulzer diesel engines supplied 2.160 bhp allowing a speed of 16 knots. With a oil fuel bunker capacity of 135 tons. The armament consisted of 1-4” gun and 4-4cm anti aircraft guns.
