An item dated Portsmouth 7 July reported that the in the evening a day earlier the British torpedo boat No. 94 collided off Beachy Head with the 3-mast schooner Reaper. The torpedo boat was underway from Portsmouth towards Sheerness while the Reaper was underway from London towards Plymouth . The Reaper lost her upper rigging and further more was her port bow heavily damaged. She was towed by the also heavily damaged torpedo boat into the harbour of Portsmouth .
