An item Ottawa 2 October reported that the Canadian cabinet ordered another 6 large steam minesweepers each with as building costs around 120.000 pound. The Canadian minister of ammunition Howe stated that the Canadian shipbuilding program now included 98 ships and vessels totally costing more as 12.000.000 pound sterling. The program included 34 minesweepers for the Canadian navy, ten corvettes for the Royal [British] Navy and another 44 corvettes for the Canadian navy. The main part of these ships were to be launched for the end of the year.
