Dutch shipyard building tankers for Niarchos according to the Dutch newspaper Het vrije volk dated 20 June 1950

An item reported that the Dutch shipyard Nederlandse Dok- en Scheepsbouwmaatschappij at Amsterdam was ordered by S.S. Niarchos (1) at Hamilton, Bermuda to built two tankers each of around 18.000 tons to be delivered for end 1952. The tankers were to be fitted out with turbines to be manufactured by the shipyard.

1. Stavros Spyros Niarchos nicknamed The Golden Greek (3 July 1909 Athens-16 April 1996 Zürich), founder of the shipping company Niarchos Ltd. At one time his fleet included more as 80 tankers.
