France tested the first aluminium built torpedo boat according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch nieuwsblad dated 3 October 1894

An item reported that in France the first test was executed with a torpedo boat 2nd class built of aluminium. Her weight was 2¼ tons less of a comparable steel built torpedo boat and her speed during the test was 20,5 knots.
