Thais gunboat Makut Rajakumar visited the Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 27 August 1898

An item dated Singapore 27 August reported that the Thais gunboat Makut Raja Kumar (1) departed a day earlier to Batavia with on board a complete delegation in name of the king to represent him during the coronation celebrations of the Dutch queen Wilhelmina. She brought with her gifts.

1. This is probably the steel-built gunboat Mongkut Rakakumarn purchased by Siam in 1891 as the Spanish Filipinas and stricken after 1930. She had a displacement of 700 tons and as dimensions 53,34 x 7,16 x 3,35 metres or 175’ x 23’6” x 11’. Her crew numbered 100 men and she was armed with 2x1-4’7” gun, 3x1-1pd gun and 1-14” surfaced torpedo tube.
