German car factory Volkswagen needing more car capacity for export according to the Dutch newspaper Het vrije volk dated 27 January 1968

An item reported that the cars of the German car factory Volkswagen (VW) were such popular in the USA that the cargo capacity was enlarged. A week earlier was a third car carrier the Belgrano commissioned. Just like the Nordtern and the Stadt Wolfsburg was she chartered for an indefinite period of time. The Belgranop was able to carry with her 1.750 cars. All three ships sailed between Germany and Canada, west- and east coast of USA and the harbours in the Gulf of Mexico.
