An item reported that the Russian merchant marine in the White Sea numbered 455 ships all built by farmers of the government Archangelsk which were skilled shipbuilders. The number of pilots and sailors for these vessels numbered 1.605 men. For the trade abroad were in these area another 14 ships available.
