An item dated Madrid 30 May referred to a telegram received early in the morning that the Spanish gunboat Tajo was lost not far from San Sebastian. She struck a rock below the surface causing large holes in her bottom, glide off the rock and sunk within 50 metres distance of the strand. Of her crew managed 25 men to save their lives while keep staying swimming until they were saved by fishermen. So far as unknown was one men drowned.
