British floating workship HMS Cyclops launched according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad 1907-1908 no. 8

An item reported the building of the floating work shop Cyclops at the shipyard of James Laing&Zn. at Sunderland which was to be added to the British home Fleet.(1) Main dimensions 145 x 17 x 10 (hold) metres. Built as a merchant ship with eight bulkheads which divide the hull continuously up to the main deck. In stead of cargo holds was the hull used for work shops like ironworks, foundries and lathes. The crew accommodation was located fore and for the commanding officer below the bridge. She ha a cargo capacity of 1.000 ton distilled water for their own use and for the fleet.
