New British submarines mother ship HMS Medway was to replace the HMS Maidstone according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1929 no. 2

An item referred to the magazine Schiffbau reported that at the shipyard of Vickers Armstrong, Barrow on 19 July 1928 the submarine mother ship HMS Medway (1) was launched and which was to replace the HMS Maidstone.(2) She had a length of 166 metres. The 2x4.000 hp M.A.N. engines were to achieve a speed of 16 miles.
