British minesweepers to slow for submarine exercises according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1934 no. 6

An item referred to the magazine M.R. dated June 1934 reporting that the British minesweepers Rose [?] and Fermoy (1) were replaced by destroyers to serve as target and pick up boat for the 5th and the 6th submarine flotillas. The reason for this decision was that the commanding officers of the submarines were now so experienced that they could guess the speed of the two minesweepers (no more as 16 miles) as soon as they saw the smoke.

Note
1. Minesweeper of the Hunt-class launched at Dundee SB on 5 February 1919 and was found not repairable after she was damaged during an air attack on 30 April 1941 at Malta causing her to be broken up.
