An item referred to a telegram from San Sebastian received by the newspaper Evenings News reporting that the former commanding officer of the German submarine which torpedoed the Lusitania was killed in Paraguay.(1) Sailors arriving from Paraguay told a story about what happened with him. After the war he seek refugee in Paraguay and was there naturalized. He became there commanding officer of a Paraguayan warship. Because of his strict Prussian discipline was he in May during a revolution in Paraguay beaten by his own sailors and thrown overboard.
