An item referred to the magazine le Yacht reporting that the large German cruiser Kaiser (1) no longer would serve as a warship but instead would be converted into a large repair ship able to carry execute temporarily repairs. For this purpose she carried wither al the necessary materials. She was to be added to the large squadrons on sea and also to be used in wartime for this purpose.

1. The ironclad of the Kaiser-class with as sister ship the Deutschland. Laid down in 1871 at the British shipyard Samuda Brothers at London, launched on 19 March three years later and commissioned on 13 February 1875, rebuilt in begin 1890‘s as an armoured cruiser. She was since 3 May 1904 used as a harbour ship, renamed Uranus on 12 October 1905, stricken from the navy last on 21 May a year later, used as a floating barracks for the Württemberg and the Flensburg and finally broken up in 1920 at Hamburg.
