Germany used British steam trawlers for war tasks according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 28 May 1915

An item referred to tidings received from IJmuiden that a steam trawler which arrived there met on the 24th four armed trawlers manned with German crews and marked with the letter ‘G’. These trawlers were obviously of British origin. The Dutch trawler was well observed but in no way hindered to continue his voyage.
