In Spain interned German submarine U 48 scuttled by own crew according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 16 March 1919

An item dated Madrid the 15^th reported that an interned German submarine escaped from Ferrol to open sea pursued by a Spanish destroyer. Her crew scuttled her and was afterwards saved. The submarine was to be hand over to the Allies. The edition dated 18 September referred to a court martial for the crew which scuttled the German submarine U 48 before the High Military and Sea Court at Madrid.
