In Spain interned German submarine U 48 scuttled by own crew according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 16 March 1919

An item dated Madrid the 15th reported that an interned German submarine escaped from Ferrol to open sea pursued by a Spanish destroyer. Her crew scuttled her and was afterwards saved. The submarine was to be hand over to the Allies. The edition dated 18 September referred to a court martial for the crew which scuttled the German submarine U 48 before the High Military and Sea Court at Madrid.
