An item reported that the US cabinet ordered the building of 8 submarines of which the largest had a displacement of 925 ton and a speed of 21 knots. The Electric Boat Company offered the lowest tender with 1.350.000 US dollars for the largest submarines and the Submarine Company asked 376.000 dollars for the smaller submarines with a measurement of 289 tons, the latter to be used for the used for harbour defence.
