A minimum standard design for battleships according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1920 no. 2
An item referred to the magazine Journal de la Marine dated 6 December 1919 which published an article titled dealing with the design of future battleships. Their minimum armament was to consist of 8-40cm guns, 12-14/16cm guns, 4-50cm submerged torpedo tubes (although 8 was better), 6-10cm anti aircraft guns, 2 planes placed on the first and aft turret, an armour belt of 35cm in the centre sloping at the ends to 20-23cm thickness, the ammunition storages were especially protected, caissons with a width of at least 3 metres at the outside to protect the hull against ‘submerged’ attacks, an armoured deck of 10cm thickness with above armoured deck of 3-5cm and a speed of 23 miles. The displacement was to be 32,000-33,000 tons.
