An item reported that the survivors of the [American] steam tanker Healdton departed that morning from IJmuiden, Netherlands towards Rotterdam, Netherlands. The navy authorities at IJmuiden interrogated them about what exactly happened.(1)

1.The newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated the 23th supplied more details. She was of New York. Captain Christophersen.She was underway from Philadelphia, USA towards Rotterdam with 7.000 ton of petroleum for the Pure Oil Company and left the 21st Bergen, Norway when she was torpedoed off the Terschellingerbank, Netherlands. Her crew was a mix of nationalities which was just partly saved.
