Belgian tug De Klok in problems on the river Schelde according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 25 December 1855
An item reported that in the morning of the 20th the Belgian tug De Klok captain Van Es arrived towing a Spanish brig loaded with a cargo of sugar under way from Havana towards Antwerp. The tug loosened her drag which anchored off the Ballastplaat and apparently extinguished her fires, lowered her flag and did not move anymore the rest of the day. The strong wind and the se ice prevented any contact with the shore despite the efforts to this end. On the 21st was she with high tide towed by a Belgian government boat to the breakwater and later with a lot of trouble into the harbour. The cylinder of her engine which was broken caused her problems.
