China Merchants Steam Navigation Company let her ships built in England according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlansch-Indië dated 27 April 1934

An item reported dated Nanking the 5th that the first of the four steamships built in England for the China Merchants Steam Navigation Company in next September her maiden voyage towards China would make. The Chinese department for traffic decided the mechanics students Chow Yen Sing and Wang Chen Chu to sent towards England to be present during the building of the ships. When the last ship was completed they would come back to China on board of it.
