German cruiser Leipzig destroyed American/British tanker Elsinör according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 5 October 1914

An item dated London the 4th reported that the German cruiser Leipzig destroyed off the Chilean coast the oil tanker Elsinör registered being British but in fact American property. Her crew was landed on the Galapagos islands.
