Inhuman living condition on board of German steam tanker Gut Heil according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch nieuwsblad dated 31 March 1910

An item reported that the German consul Reinke decided that captain J. Jahns of the steam tanker Gut Heil belonging to the Deutsche-Amerikanischen Petroleumgesellschaft was guilty for not providing enough victuals and drinking water to his crew. Underway from Matasland towards Boston some stokers and sailors even slumped from hunger. Immediately after the arrival at Boston were six men brought to the hospital.
