Russian steamship Blesk wrecked according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch nieuwsblad dated 4 December 1896

An item reported that the Russian steamship Blesk underway from Batoum towards Hamburg, Germany with a cargo of petroleum was stranded off Graystone. In her fore ship was now a large hole. Her crew landed at Hope Cove. A later tiding reported that she was leaking oil and the her captain went back with the life-boat. The edition dated the 5th published an item dated Salcombe the 3rd reporting this steam tanker broke into two and was lost included her 3.000 tons of petroleum. Her crew numbering 43 men was saved by the life-boat Alexandra of Hope Cove.
