German coaler Bengalia underway to the Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra Post dated 13 December 1904

An item dated London the 8th reported that the German coaler Bengalia left Cardiff loaded with 1.200 ton coal destined for Batavia, Dutch East Indies. The coal seemed to be for the [Russian] Baltic Fleet.

Note
1. At that moment was the Russo-Japanese War (8 February 1904-5 September 1905) going on. The Netherlands were neutral in this war. A Dutch squadron in the Dutch East Indies had to prevent that Japan and/or Russia would violate the Dutch neutrality by entering teritorial waters without permission. Of these ships was the Dutch protected cruiser Noord-Brabant.
