The Belgian navy and her gunboats according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 6 July 1838

Recently were two armed vessels, which were called 'the Belgian navy', transported via de inland waters from Antwerp towards Ostende. The Belgian newspaper Précurseur of Antwerp, Belgium published a news item dated Ostende 3 July. The two gunboats returned the evening of the day before coming back from a short sea trip to take on board pilots for cruising some days between the Flemish banks. While the weather was really nice during the sea trip it was still unknown what the behaviour of this kind of vessels was in turbulent weather but if was feared not very well considering their design and building.
