The French, Greek and Turkish navies in the Levant according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 12 July 1825

Zante, 30 May. The French naval force commanded by de Rigny found 8 May in the waters van Navarino the very damaged and shocked Turkish fleet after the defeat off Modon by the fire ships of the Greek division commanded by Miaulis. The newspaper Allgemeine Zeitung published a news item dated Trieste, 24 June according to which the captain Pasha was sighted 4 June off Cerigo apparently going to the Gulf of Lepanto. A second item dated Trieste 27 June reported that according to the newest tidings from Zante dated until the 17th the Captain pasha after the defeat at Cape d'Oro anchored off Suda, Candia still watched by Sachturi. There were however no tidings that the Greek fleet was sighted in the Ionian waters.
