14 February. According to rumours was the squadron of Brest admiral Hamelin ordered
to depart. Hamelin wasn’t allowed to open his orders before he arrived at a
certain position. Due to contrary winds he was still at Brest and it was
believed that a departure wasn’t to expect within short time due to the West
and Northwest wind. Rear admiral Desrotours was expected at Brest where he
would hoist his flag on board of the Centaurus and to go with some of in this
port fitted out ships towards the Mediterranean.(1)
