The relation with the royal court of Siam was somehow problematical. Stores were taken away with force without paying the agreed price and so on. With the Meijenburg, Land van Beloften and the bark Tinzoeker were 36 European and 50 Buginese soldiers sent along for protection. If the king decided to pay his debts, it was possible to maintain the factories at Siam and Ligoor, otherwise they were left. The Meijenburg was secretly loaded with textiles, merchandise and 18½ pikol cauris, if it was decided to continue the factories.
