Spanish navy versus the Independents commanded by Brion according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 18 July 1818

New York, 1 June. According to a letter dated St. Barthlemy 12 April written by admiral Brion was he joined by three ships coming from the Thames with troops, arms and ammunition destined for the army of the Independents. He intended to hoist his flag on board of a very beautiful 36-gun ship. The remaining Spanish naval force in the area was of no competition for his force and he intended to depart within some days from St. Barthelemy towards la Guayra. More ships with troops, arms and war stores were expected to join Brions’ force coming from England.
