The Brazilian, Colombian and Mexican navies according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 7 November 1825

London, 1 November. The Brazilian emperor had stricken the name of lord Cochrane from the navy list when the latter in stead of coming to Rio departed with a frigate to England, taking away his new titles including that of marquis of Maranham and appointed commodore Jewess as admiral.

Some people assured that the Mexican navy was to consist within short time of a ship of the line, 4 or 5 frigates and some smaller vessels and that the Colombian navy would be of an equal strength while in the United Kingdom and the United States some large ships for this navy were build. The Mexican government asked the American admiral commodore Porter to accept the command of her navy.
