The British, Greek, Egyptian and Turkish navies in the Mediterranean according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 25 August 1825

Augsburg, 19 August. The newspaper Allgemeine Zeitung published a news item out of the newspaper il Ozzervatore Triestino dated 7 August. According to the latter newspaper arrived the day before yesterday a master coming in 33 days from Smyrna reporting that 15 July the Greek commanding officer Tombasi cruising with 9 warships told him that Ibrahim pasha was taken prisoner, the Turkish fleet returned to Alexandria while the Greek fleet as off Patras. The master of another ship arrived 5 August coming in 22 days from Zante reported that the Turkish fleet commanded by the Captain Pasha was off Patras.

Vienna, 14 August. At Constantinople was a new flotilla consisting of 3 corvettes and 5 brigs fitted out. She was to be manned by sailors voluntarily recruited in Constantinople and environments.
Trieste, 6 August. From Corfu arrived tidings dated 20 July informing that the British Lord commissary left the 12th towards St. Maure with a frigate and returned yesterday with a brig earlier send to this destination. The frigate was left behind with other orders. The departure of the British naval force was caused by the offending of a British corvette by an Algerian division. According to rumours arrived the Egyptian-Turkish fleet off Patras. The Greek fleet which was pursuing the first fleet wasn’t been able to use her fire ships, while an Austrian division of 8 warships prevented this.
