London,
4 April. An American newspaper dated 17th February published some news dealing
with an expedition against Cuba. At Vera Cruz were rumours that the Colombian
government prepared an expedition with the purpose to attack Cuba and that the
Mexican government was involved. The latter hired the ship Scio, master Graves,
of Philadelphia to be used as a troop transport towards Campeche where the
forces came together. With other American ships were negotiations going on.
Mexico was to send 7.500 soldiers.
