A combined Colombian-Mexican expedition destined towards Cuba according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 8 April 1826

London, 4 April. An American newspaper dated 17th February published some news dealing with an expedition against Cuba. At Vera Cruz were rumours that the Colombian government prepared an expedition with the purpose to attack Cuba and that the Mexican government was involved. The latter hired the ship Scio, master Graves, of Philadelphia to be used as a troop transport towards Campeche where the forces came together. With other American ships were negotiations going on. Mexico was to send 7.500 soldiers.
