French naval movements in Spanish waters according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 14 July 1823

Letters from baron des Rotours confirmed telegrams from Toulon dated 3 July that the four French ships le Grand Corneille, l'Irma, l'Espoir and l'Iris captured by Spanish privateers and brought in the harbour of Algeziras were returned by the governor to this rear admiral.

Madrid, 3 July. General Bordesoulle blockaded Cadiz and the harbour of Santa Maria was under complete French control. Admiral Hamellin strengthened his squadron with around 30 small vessels to help with blockading the coasts and which investigate all ships that approached or left Cadiz. These vessels brought up a convoy of ships loaded with victuals destined for Cadiz.
