The British and French navies in the Mediterranean according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 20 August 1838

According to the tidings from Trieste dated 8 August published in the newspaper Allgemeine Zeitung was it well known that the British and French navies which were cruising in the Mediterranean would join each other to act against the Egyptian pasha Mehemet-Ali when he refused to listen to the European powers. Already were allied ships cruising off Alexandria.
