The British, Egyptian and Greek navies in the Levant according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 22 December 1824

Trieste, 7 December. The three Greek goelettes which were seized by the British frigate Cybele underway from Napoli-di-Romania towards Corfu were released and sailed escorted by the British corvette Hind to Napoli. According to a letter written by the Greek captain Sachturi on board of his ship off Cape Malecas, Candia dated 8 (20) November was 1 November a fight with the Egyptian fleet. The latter was so harassed that there was no hope for the Egyptians to capture the Peloponnesus or keep the island Candia. The Greek force consisted of more as 20 ships with troops in board, enough ammunition and some famous officers.
