According to the newspaper le Journal des Débats were men at the Black Sea still busy with fitting out of a Russian squadron with a secret mission probably against Circassia. The squadron was all ready partly departed towards sea while since beginning June warships departed towards Varna and Bourgos and towards Heraclea. Probably the latter are the ones cruising off the Bosporus. The squadron, which blockaded the coasts of Abasie, needed no reinforcements. It was capable enough to intercept all communication and the transport of stores. The ships of this squadron were mostly small and used armed sloops and flat bottomed vessels. Ships of the line and frigates were there of no use.
