A Portuguese squadron at Maldonado according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 22 May 1823

Paris, 17 May. A Portuguese division of 4 large transports and a goelette of war were anchored at the roads of Maldonado waiting to embark the European troops of the former army of general Lescor. These troops now commanded by general Alvaro however refused to leave Montevideo while there was still a good relation between the city and the hinterland and all business and trade (including for foreign merchants) went on without problems protected by Alvaro with all means.
