20 July. The Spanish frigate la Pronta with ƒ 7.500.000 dollars on board
departed with three other warships 29 April Havana towards Spain. The latter
three warships were also ordered to escort a convoy of 55 Spanish merchant
ships loaded with sugar, coffee, vanilla and piasters. This was the most
valuable convoy since a long time underway from Cuba towards Spain. Some
believed it was worth 100.000.000 guilders (?).
