An Argentinean torpedo boat exploded in 1877 according to the local Dutch newspaper Goessche Courant

According to the local Dutch newspaper Goessche Courant dated 11 December 1877 exploded a torpedo boat of the Argentinean Republic. A Danish officer, her commanding officer and partly of the crew were saved. Her crew sprung over board afraid for more explosions while the 500 pound gun cotton on board was not accessible. Thirteen men were killed instantly and other four heavily wounded; all men below deck where the explosion found place were killed. What caused the explosion was still unknown.
