The
newspaper l’Etoile published an item dated San Sebastian 10 July according to
which the day before around 14.00 o’clock heavy gunfire could be heard caused
by a French frigate and a corvette. According to some rumours they sighted some
small Spanish vessels which fled. According t other rumours the gunfire was a
signal [without telling the purpose].
