Italian gunboat and Russian corvette fighting off Cape Istria according to the Dutch newspaper Oprechte Haarlemse courant dated 22 May1806

An item dated Trieste 3 May reported that the gunboat la Commacchiese of the Royal Italian navy commanded by captain Calamani fought the 2^nd with a 22-gun corvette off Cape Istria. At 08.oo o’clock was the corvette followed by a small vessel sighted. The gunboat attacked the vessel which seek refugee by the corvette. At 11’00 o’clock started a battle during 1,5 hours between the gunboat and corvette. The latter damaged by some gunshots fled to Trieste where another Russian ship was lying. Of her crew were ten men wounded. The gunboat with just one gunshot in her topsails continued with her patrol.
