Madrid, 15 December 1822. The government received the official tiding that at Rio Janeiro 80.000.000 ducats were available of which 60.000.000 coming fro Mexico saved by loyal subjects from the robberies by Iturbide while the 20.000.000 came form Peru. The treasuries were loaded on board of British ships. It was desirable to obtain an own squadron in these waters to rescue Spanish subjects returning t Spain.
