Russian cargo ship Indigirka 1954-1982

The Dutch shipyard Kon.Mij. De Schelde at Vlissingen, Netherlands built after the Second World War several merchant ships for account of the Soviet government. The first three were the Ob, Yenesei and Lena followed by the Angara, Indigirka and Baikal. This six ships were of the same design. Later were they followed by several ships in the sixties for the fishery.

IMO 5160491. The building of the Indigirka was ordered on 14 May 1954. With yard number 282 was her keel laid down on 1 January 1956 and Mrs. Kouznersova launched her on Saturday 8 September at 13.00 o’clock .Her trials were on 11-15 March, a year later followed by her delivery on 23 March to V.O. Sudimport/Transmashimport, Moscow, Soviet Union. With a deadweight of 7.340 tons of 1.016 kg and a Gross tonnage of 5.581 tons were her dimensions 118,45 (between perpendiculars)-130,19 (over all) x 18,84 moulded) x 8,17 (maximum sumemr) x 11,20 (moulded depth) metres or 388’7½” x 427’1¾” x 61’9½” x 26’9 5/8” x 36’9”. Cubic bale capacity 10.137 cubic metres or 358.020 cubic feet. The four main Schelde-Sulzer 8MH42 engines delivered totally 8.200shp at 360 rpm allowing a service speed of 14 knots. Her crew numbered 72 persons with a passenger accommodation for 12 persons. Ice-strengthened.
