The French and Spanish navies around la Guayra according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 21 September 1821

Paris, 10 September. The newspaper Moniteur published a tiding of the French rear admiral Jurien commanding a division in the West Indies reporting the events begin of July off la Guayra and where he negotiated between both parties. The result was that the Spanish garrison commanded by colonel Pereyra was to be transported to Porto Cabello instead fighting to the last man. Immediately afterwards met the French division a Spanish convoy coming from Spain escorted by the 64-gun Asia with on board representatives for negotiations with the Colombian Independents.
