The Portuguese navy in 1867 according to Albert, Baron von Sack

Thanks to the fact that nowadays more and more books are digitized we are able to read books that are some times for decades no longer available for the public for several reasons. That's quite a pity while these books contains useful information while the archives are destroyed, incomplete or nor accessible.

p. 426. “Sailing ships: 1-76 gun ship, 1-50 gun frigate, 2-36 gun corvettes, 1-12 gun brig, 8 schooners and cutters of 10 guns, 5-5 gun yachts, 2-2 gun sloops, 4-6 gun transports.
Steam ships: 7 corvettes of total 1.800 hp and 96 guns, 7 steamships of total 910 hp and 31 guns, 6 gunboats of total 323 hp and 10 guns. On stocks were 1 steam frigate and 1 steam gun boat.
Subtotal 26 armed and 19 not armed ships and 2 on stocks, total 47 ships with 343 guns.”
