The Spanish navy and the Colombian privateer el Liberador in the Mediterranean according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 1 May 1826
Madrid, 17 April. The Colombian privateer el Liberador, a brig, is since 3 weeks active in the waters of Cadiz. Her appearance forced to stop temporarily with the steamship line between Cadiz and Gibraltar. This privateer all ready captured several vessels, of which two were loaded with brandy and one with iron. Five Spanish warships pursued the privateer without success. The reason, the Spanish warships stayed in sight of the harbour while patrolling!The Spanish goelette el Cometa arrived 29 March at Cadiz coming from Puerto Rico and had taken 5 Colombian ships.
