German warships escaping using Dutch territorial waters according to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf dated 22 October 1918

An item dated London the 21st reported that McNamara (1) stated on behalf of the Admiralty in the House of Commons that he believed that the German destroyers and torpedo boats based at Zeebrugge and Oostende, Belgium managed to escape to German harbours.(2) An exact number however was not known. All efforts were done to capture those ships. But in cases German warships tried to escape at night and sometimes using Dutch territorial waters those efforts were not successful. When Parliament member Houston asked if German destroyers escaped using the Schelde was this denied by MacNamara.
